Tom Anderson T Icon; "What you always dreamed and secretly wished your vintage guitar could actually be and do—and way, way more."
The T-Icon Is our most iconic T-styled guitar. That is why we call it: T-Icon. Makes sense, right?
Sharing all the same elevated performance benefits of our venerated T-Classic model, the T-Icon also features a much more iconic 3-saddle bridge, with a baseplate design that surrounds the angled single coil-sized bridge pickup.
But an Anderson, T-Icon guitar could never settle for just any 3-saddle bridge to satisfy mere looks. Our Traditional 3-Saddle bridge is exquisitely built, and fully compensated. We call its bridge: Traditional 3 Saddle - compensated.
And what does that mean?
It means that this bridge has a compensated (corrected) saddle design for uncompromisingly accurate intonation and ridiculously in-tune playing—like each and every Anderson guitar ever created.
This takes the vintage experience to a whole new level as accurate intonation not only means more in-tune playing but also much richer and fuller tonality with greater sustain as more sympathetic frequencies harmonize rather than contrast. Such a great playing experience!
It is this intricate attention to detail, along with all other Anderson elevated performance attributes, that creates this T-style instrument of unparalleled vintage proportions, known as T-Icon.
T-Icon:
• Effortless Anderson playability.
• All tone-wood body of Swamp Ash.
• Traditional 3-Saddle bridge that is compensated for excellence in intonation, creating a guitar that plays wonderfully and robustly in tune.
• Brass saddles and a nickel-plated, steel baseplate surrounding the angled single coil-sized bridge pickup.
• Traditional 25 1/2-inch scale length.
• Comfortably sculpted front and back contours.
Swamp Ash
- The other so-called “vintage wood” also began its usage in single cut-away guitars during the early 50's.
- Tone: It has a rather scooped out midrange tone with a robust low, low end and beautifully musical sparkling highs. The type of ash we use is Swamp Ash. It is lighter in weight and more porous, producing a timbre that is usually richer and less harsh than heavier ash. A super musical and multifaceted tone emphasizing an abundance of soft, sparkling, high end and rich, low-low end frequencies.
- Finishes: Its color is light blonde, highlighted by a darker brown elongated grain pattern. This wood looks extremely good with many Transparent colors.
Happy Medium: Our most popular Cobra, Bobcat, and Atom neck is a medium depth back shape for the: “not too big and not too small but just right” neck feel. The taper is a “happy medium” among our other neck shapes. As your hand slides to the upper frets, playing depth increase a desirable "medium" amount.
Happy Medium: .825 at the 1st fret to .915 at the 12th
PH Series Pickups
The tone of a traditional Soapbar-style pickup made to fit humbucker guitars. And quiet too: no 60-cycle hum (when you are touching the strings, of course).
What do Soapbar-style pickups sound like? The longstanding benefit of a Soapbar-style pickup is that they produce a sound that lives between the weaker F-type, single coil and the fat focus of a humbucker, giving you a sound nothing else can quite achieve. So, think of the wide bandwidth that a single coil pickup delivers—low, lows and stringy, musical highs. Now tame those highs ever so slightly so there is no “shattering glass” timbre, just clear string clarity. Add big, booming lows and give it enough midrange girth to not be wimpy in any situation—but not so much that it is mid-only like a traditional humbucker. Not weak but not overly hot—big enough to be dirty when pushed through your favorite amp and pristine when backed off—without 60-cycle hum! How cool is that? You have the much-loved Soapbar tone at your fingertips.
What’s the big deal? This coveted iconic musical “P” tone has not ever been achievable in a hum-canceling version—UNTIL NOW! Thanks to the Anderson PQ R&D department—real players jamming away until all hours of the night to bring P-performance under your control.
Technically Speaking? How about precision polepiece alignment—means string and polepiece engage in maximum communication.
