Rare, Vintage, Distinctive! A gorgeous 1973 Gibson L6-S Standard in its original Natural maple finish, designed during Gibson’s Bill Lawrence era. The L6-S is a standout 1970s solidbody known for its articulate tone, sustain, and versatile electronics. Original production year, predates Custom and Deluxe models.

This is a player-grade vintage Gibson that remains largely original, with a few honest, period-correct modifications. The bridge pickup has been replaced with a DiMarzio humbucker and the original nylon nut has been upgraded to a brass nut for better clarity and sustain, both popular mods on 70s L6s. In addition, the strap button has been relocated from its factory position beneath the neck heel to the upper horn for improved balance.

Dialed in and set up in-shop, this beauty plays great with low action and no issues. Finish shows light checking, small dings, and wear consistent with age. Some wear on maple fretboard, small chip on backplate by screw, previous owner's name carved in back of headstock and painted on case. Case is original black Gibson hardshell case with burgundy plush interior. Case is a bit road worn and missing 2 of 3 feet, but fully functional. All latches function properly.

The L6-S represents Gibson’s early-’70s push toward modern performance: a solid maple body, Bill Lawrence–designed electronics, and a tonal range that covers everything from bright, cutting rhythm sounds to thick, sustaining lead tones.
